Ashland, Oregon Area Hike to Waterfalls
Bybee Gulch & Lost Falls in South-East Jackson County, Oregon (see map) are a short hike off Shale City Rd. Shale City is an old settlement road off Dead Indian Rd. leading out of Ashland, Oregon. The steep drop into Bybee Gulch makes beautiful view as Lost Falls cascades to the bottom of the drop to a deep pool. The small pool and falls at the top are fun to check out up close and there are various vantage points for photographs and pondering nature in the beautiful mountains of Southern Oregon.
The waterfall runs all year, but is most accessible during spring, summer. It’s a little sparse in fall and frozen in the winter. Only a car is needed for access during these months and the round trip hike is around a couple miles of light slope. Tread lightly on nature and post your pics and reviews to our Oregon Outdoors Group on Facebook and be sure to search for Bybee to find others! Some of these photos and videos were featured there.
